As a Textile specialist, educator, facilitator and an artist, through expert application of self derived innovative artistic techniques and designs, in combination with structured texture plaster techniques, ordinary kitchen aluminium foil, recycled & reused materials and mixed media finishes, I capture the essence of classical elegance, sumptuous pallets and timeless grace that transcend the ordinary and transforms any surface into decorative art to create the spectacular array of custom theme based & customized unique paintings , tapestries, mirrors, shadowboxes and decorative accessories for any event or occasion.
Each of my paintings begin with a veiled amorphous concept about a personal relationship with human life, despite the differences in perception, share one commonality, the humanity, or an acquisition about a mystic relationship or mythological character interpreted as my expression of theme. Much of my artwork is inspired by the journey of my own life, culture, traditions and heritage.
I feel extremely connected to the time and places to which I have lived from time drawn back to a finding a way to interpret those elements into my art of expressing the never-ending beauty I find within. It enriches the shapes the ways I see colour and artistic design creativity which inspires the work that I have yet to begin.
To me, my creative artwork is a living document of cultural history, an expression of artistic, emotional and spiritual values. In my work, I try to express the awe of the natural world, my deep rooted spirituality and the ultimate mystery and beauty of life as well as explore persistence of things in the World, such as water, sky, earth, animals and people, all become symbols of endurance and timeless journey.
All my work just becomes timeless & unbound. AshAditi (timeless art & design)
My artistic techniques include sculptured texture, textile art, unique antique silver look that are meant to emphasize textures, natural stone carving and antique silver effects, expertly applied to result in stunning artwork.
I choose to fully explore the use of recycled materials of various types, at times reused to compose my artwork. Recycled and reused materials have a history. They can be broken down, torn, cut, layered and reworked until they are reassembled to create something more beautifully meaningful artwork.
Fragments and layers mark the passing of the time, the rituals of making (gathering of materials, creating, manipulating, reusing and recycling) acting as a part of the narrative of the artwork and its creative artistic transformation.
I am the Regional Representative of the Ontario Crafts Council, a Board Member of the York Region Arts Council, instructor at Ryerson University and a recipient of the Governor General's award for 15 years of volunteer service.
